service.
The agreement between you and VettingMate: accounts, consent duties, acceptable use, fees and liability, in plain English.
The service
These terms govern your use of the VettingMate platform, websites, accounts, verification checks, reports, Trust Scores, APIs and related services provided by VettingMate Ltd ("VettingMate", "we"). By creating an account or using the service you accept these terms. If you use the service for an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.
Accounts & eligibility
You must be at least 18 and provide accurate registration information. You are responsible for activity under your account, for keeping credentials secure, and for notifying us promptly of any unauthorised use. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms or create risk for other users.
Requesting checks
If you request checks on another person (a "subject") you warrant that: you have a legitimate purpose; the subject has given informed consent through our consent flow; and you will use results only for the stated purpose, in compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and applicable law (including employment, housing and consumer credit rules). Consent records are auditable, do not attempt to bypass them.
Subjects & your data
If checks are run on you, you may view your records, correct inaccuracies and dispute findings. Verification results reflect evidence obtained at the time of the check; a "verified" outcome is a statement about the evidence, not a guarantee of future conduct.
Trust Score
Trust Scores are indicative summaries generated from verified records using our published methodology. They are one input among many, must not be used as the sole basis for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects, and can be contested through our disputes process.
Acceptable use
You must not: run checks without consent; misrepresent your identity or purpose; scrape, reverse-engineer or overload the platform; use results to discriminate unlawfully; resell the service without agreement; or upload unlawful content. We may refuse, suspend or terminate access for misuse.
Fees & payment
Fees are as shown on the pricing page or in your agreement, exclusive of VAT. Pay-as-you-go checks are charged on completion; plan fees are billed in advance. Failed or cancelled checks are charged only as stated on the pricing page. We may change prices on notice; changes apply to future billing periods.
Intellectual property
The platform, brand, reports format and software are our property or our licensors'. You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for its intended purpose. You retain rights in your data; you grant us the rights needed to process it under these terms and the privacy policy.
Disclaimers & liability
We provide the service with reasonable skill and care. Verification depends on third-party sources and evidence supplied to us; except as stated, results are provided "as is" and we do not warrant that a check will detect every issue. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law. Subject to that, our aggregate liability is capped at the fees paid in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Term, termination & law
You may close your account at any time; we may terminate for breach with notice. Provisions that should survive (payment, liability, data handling) do. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, whose courts have exclusive jurisdiction. Questions: [email protected] or the contact page.
